Released as part of the 3rd BlackThornProd Game Jam where the theme was "Less Is More" | Read Description below for more info on how to play!

In Pooge's Chance, you play as a Pooge the most miserable Villie around, Pooge is greedy and keeps all of his good fortune to himself, whilst the rest of his town suffers. One night Pooge is visited by a ghost who tells him to change his ways before it's too late.

So Pooge decides that he must change his ways to escape his fate, he goes around the town giving gifts to his fellow Villies but everyone's wants are not as straightforward as others, so he must think carefully what people want, will you succeed in making everyone happy, and will Pooge realise that "Less truly is more, and happiness is vital and that's worth more than any title"

I may have overscoped with my first idea of this game (initially they wouldn't give you as clear clues as they do, meaning you'd have to work out more than just images, but hey, it's a game jam and it happens!

The gameplay may not be all there, but I hope you enjoy the audio and visuals!

What To Do:

  1. Talk to the villagers (Villies) and see what is making them sad
  2. Find the items with the matching symbols and give them the items!
  3. Some Villies may require something else off of you!
  4. Make them all happy
  5. If a Villie has more than one clue for you, the first is the gift they want, the second is an action or requirement they need!
  • Give gifts to your fellow Villies and make them happy!
  • You will notice the music change and the environment change as you make more of them happy
  • You may even notice yourself change!

I'd describe this as a wholesome story game where your character (Pooge) realises that there is more to life than the materialistic thing he owns, and tasks himself with making everyone else happy. Which I honestly believe is a good message for life.

Hope everyone had a good jam. If you want to leave a rating that would be fantastic. <3

This is such an awesome game! Was just wondering if custom fonts were allowed because Arial is definetely not one of the best fonts out there.

Thank you! And they were 😅 I unfortunately forgot to change / stylise UI !

I had a great time with this, love the sound effects and the intro, super memorable! :D Also thought the music was really cool, gave the village a unique atmosphere.

Thanks! I am glad you thought so as that was my intention! :D

Thanks so much! First time properly trying to make music for a game so glad you liked it!

Good game, but the music is a little annoying.

But it brings happines to the village :) .

Awesome game, music gave me a sense that I needed to hurry up but I guess there wasn't a timer in the game. Nice retelling of A Christmas Carol with a twist. Sorry I cant rate the game as I didn't join the Jam.

Thanks for playing! Yeah it's my first proper time messing with music and I realise I didn't hit the mark exactly 😅 Thank you! I'm glad you thought that 😁 don't worry about rating! Thanks for playing!!

Ahh maybe I was trying to rate the games before the submission period had ended. Iv rated the game now, hope you do well.

Best part are the sounds when you walk up to/away from a person

I love how helping out the villagers brightens up the mood and changes everything around you. Great way of visualizing progress.

The music seems a bit off though. I get that you're trying to go for melancholy, but it's pretty uneasy after a while.

Other than that, great game! Didn't notice you overscoped! :)

Thanks a lot, I thought it would be best to make the world brighten up as you make others happy, as you are quite literally "brightening people's day" :D
Yeah, I've had some feedback saying it seems quite creepy towards the end, which I definitely agree with x)
Thanks so much! (If you could see my original ideas you'd understand the overscope!)
